Here's a neat way to solve THE SENTRY(006) and UP & DOWN(007)
it can also be used as a "transistion":
Build up two set of STAIRS using the flat pieces,
one from each set:

Now, build three 2x2x2 cubes by slapping two #5 pieces together,
two #6 pieces together and two #7 pieces together.
Stack the three large cubes in a COLUMN that is 6-high:

The COLUMN and the two STAIRS can now assemble into 
the SENTRY TOWER and also the UP & DOWN.
